The Old World (and The Empire in particular) was the setting for much of the early and mid history of the Legacy of the Gods campaign, and shall most likely remain an important factor for the foreseeable future, though it is no longer the primary milieu where the campaign's action takes place.

This island north of the Old World is noted for its mists and backwards, fractious peoples.

Shortly after their foundation, the Dragon Brethren made Marienburg the center of their operations, allowing them ready contact and business throughout the northern Old World as well as a certain amount of anonymity and insulation from certain elements of religious Imperial (specifically Sigmarite) society.
